Namitac heliogravure and flexo printing ink Aliphatic polyurethane resin without alcohol, tin and isocyanate free compounds
Flexo and rotogravure printing inks Polyurethane resin of Taknam Keyhan Polymer Company has different types such as inactive semi-aliphatic single-component polyurethane resin, non-reactive aliphatic full elastomeric polyurethane and solvent-based aliphatic polyurethane resin. These products have a high molecular weight and are without free isocyanate and tin compounds, which are used in the production of flexo and rotogravure printing inks.
Polyurethane resin for flexible packaging printing ink
Polyurethane resin is a polymer whose backbone contains repeating NHCOO structural units. It is formed from the polymerization of isocyanate monomers and hydroxyl compounds. Due to having a carbamate group with strong polarity, it is insoluble in non-polar groups and has oil resistance, toughness, wear resistance, aging resistance and adhesion. By using different raw materials, several types of polyurethanes with different properties can be obtained, which are suitable for a wide temperature range (-50 to 150 °C), including elastomers, thermoplastic resins, and thermoset resins.
Specifically, the properties that are controlled by polyurethane resin in printing ink are:
Strength
The adhesion of ink to printed materials mainly includes chemical bonding force, intermolecular force, electrostatic interfacial force and mechanical force. These forces come from the resin used in printing and the substrate material. It is very important to use different resins for different materials. In general, for PE, PP and other non-polar substrates, even with corona, its surface tension can only reach 38 Dyne. Instead, it should use a non-polar resin structure such as chlorinated polypropylene resin binders. For PET, PA and other surface polarity substrates, polyurethane resin binders are better.
Colorability
Mineral pigment is the main ingredient to provide color for the ink, but due to the adhesion of the ink to the surface, there is always some deviation from the original color. The reason lies in the printing ink. Pigment particles do not exist alone, but are dispersed in the binding medium. At the micro level, the best wetting dispersion of a pigment particle is completely wrapped in the resin binder and attached to the substrate surface. Color rendering is determined by reflectance: the light that is on the surface of the coated pigment passes through the resin binder film and is then transmitted to the consumer’s eye. The transparency of the resin and the size of the color number directly affect the different colors. At the same time, the sufficient dispersion of the resin pigment directly affects the uniform packing of the resin pigment and the quality of the ink itself.
Viscosity resistance
Viscosity resistance is an important index in ink evaluation. Gravure printing is a printing method with high ink, good pitch repeatability and fast printing speed. The inks used in it are mostly solvent volatile drying inks. After transferring the printing ink plate to the substrate, through the drying route, the organic solvent evaporates quickly after drying.when passing through the high-temperature drying tunnel after the roll is folded, the surface temperature of the printing film is generally between 40 ℃ ~ 60 ℃, at the same time, due to the presence of back pressure, the viscosity will lead to a serious adhesion problem or quality problem.
Resolvability
In gravure printing, ink resolubility is also a key indicator of ink performance. Especially in color ink printing, medium resolution can not only fully show the color, but also can solve the print color problem as well as the shallow screen block of the printing plate.
Storage stability
If the ink is left in the container for a long time, it is prone to problems such as uneven concentration, loss of viscosity, discoloration, etc., which may affect its use. Adding the right resin helps to effectively solve this problem.
